Three community activists who work with Seattle police are backing Chief Adrian Diaz.

This photo shows SPD Chief Adrian Diaz holding a press conference regarding a string of home invasion robberies that occurred over the summer of 2023. Three community activists who work with Seattle police are backing Chief Adrian Diaz and said accusations of sexual harassment and discrimination are from “disgruntled” employees who are “serial complainers.”

Victoria Beach, Rev. Harriet Walden, and Carmen Martinez made the claims in a 45-minute news conference on Beacon Hill in response they said to recent comments from city council members and based on the idea that Diaz could not defend himself. Beach and Martinez have both worked as liaisons in the department, and Beach said she is currently employed and knows the accusers. Walden is also the co-chair of theand tort claims. Last month, four female employees stepped forward to accuse the Chief and his top lieutenant, John O’Neill, of a pattern of harassment, discrimination, and a hostile work environment. They filed a $5 million claim against the city.
