Dutch police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with three seemingly random shootings in the IJsselmonde district of Rotterdam that left two people dead. The suspect was arrested around 11.15pm in a house on the Emelissedijk in Rotterdam . The shootings occurred on December 21, December 28, and January 2. A 63-year-old man was fatally shot on Reyerdijk on December 21 at 9.40pm. A week later, a 58-year-old man was found shot on a cycle path on Roelantpad and died from his injuries.
On January 2, an 81-year-old man was found seriously injured with a likely gunshot wound. Rotterdam police had previously released a photo of the suspect, urging the public to come forward with information. Police believe all three shootings are connected but a motive remains unclear. They say none of the incidents appear to be gang-related as none of the victims had criminal connections
