Police found a number of items including 'suspected controlled drugs' in an area of open ground nearby, after being called in over suspicious activity near the Glasgow prison.
Officers were initially alerted to the remote-controlled aircraft travelling near the Riddrie jail at 11.45pm on Wednesday, September 4. Following a search, police say they discovered a number of items including 'suspected controlled drugs' in an area of open ground near Gartcairn Road.
Officers were again called to the area at 2.25am on Thursday, September 5, following reports of a second drone flying close to the prison. Authorities say they seized a device and recovered a quantity of 'suspected drugs' near the grounds of the prison.Inspector Max Shaw said: “Around 11.45pm on Wednesday, 4 September, police received a report of a drone flying near to HMP Barlinnie.
