NEW BROCKTON -- An $8 tag fee increase in Coffee County to benefit law enforcement is being considered by the Alabama legislature and the Coffee County Commission Monday unanimously agreed to support that bill.
At the Coffee County Commission meeting Monday, 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney James Tarbox asked the commission to support the bill citing an anticipated budget shortfall of some $100,000 in his office. The district attorney’s office budget is based on “an antiquated law that unfortunately seems like it puts us in a difficult position year after year,” he said.

The fee shall be in addition to all other fees, taxes, and other charges provided by law.”
