A customer was surprised to see a 10p charge for 'Sellotape' on his receipt from his favorite Chinese takeaway. However, the charge was actually for the plastic bag used to hold his food.
A takeaway fan was left 'gobsmacked' after being charged 10p for Sellotape from his favourite Chinese takeaway - with a picture of his receipt causing much confusion and amusement on social media.
The customer ordered a takeaway from Lucky House on Coronation Street in Blackpool last week for his evening meal. Sharing an image of his receipt, the itemised document showed individual dishes with a rather unexpected addition. Towards the end of the list was a charge for 'Sellotape' at a cost of 10p - with the Sellotape being used to seal his free bag of prawn crackers.Talking to LancsLive about the discovery, the customer said: "I was gobsmacked as I have been using it regularly for years". However it turns out there was a very simple and rational explanation for the charge. The 10p was in fact the plastic bag charge which customers have become very much accustomed too in supermarkets.
A spokesperson for Lucky House told LancsLive: "It’s for plastic bags to hold the food, it was just a typing mistake but we have asked our order system company to correct it today. Every shop is now required to charge for plastic bags." Subscribe to our daily newsletter LANCS LIVE NEWS and get all the biggest stories from across Lancashire direct to your inbox
