Former Easter Road forward has his own review of the most important footballing department - the playing staff.
A root and branch review of the football structure at Hibs is underway. But it’s the chopping of the dead wood in the dressing room that punters care about most.
If a decent offer came in for Lewis Miller I’d bite your hand off. Hibs already have a much better right back in Chris Cadden . Miller spends too much time winding folk up rather than concentrating on his game. Paul Hanlon? I’d keep the veteran in the building. He’s a solid central defensive back-up and an experienced head for the dressing room. But adding quality centre halves is a must. We do have my Hibs’ player of the year in the backline though - Jordan Obita . He’s been a real find and is the only left-back to oust Lewis Stevenson in the last 20 years. A real threat going forward and he can stay.
Keeping Joe Newell is a no brainer. He’s been given the captain’s armband for a reason. Hibs could not get a better midfield player than Joe in that wage bracket. As long as he plays in a three then he is a key man. Jake Doyle-Hayes has only played once this season due to injury. But I’d still keep the Irishman. He’s got energy, gets about people and breaks up play. Nathan Moriah-Welsh has done well since coming in. He’s similar to Doyle-Hayes in that he is a bit of a destroyer. But he’s looked good and can do a job next season.
Then there’s Martin Boyle. Of course I’d keep the talisman. But he must know he’s had a poor season and hasn’t been the same since his serous knee injury. Boyle needs to do much better next season.
