It's now nine new arrivals at Easter Road but Tam reckons there's still an important job needing done in the final two weeks of the window
Hibs are starting to flex their muscles in the transfer market and it’s exciting to see - but there’s one big problem that worries me.
You end up with a bloated squad and a lot of players in the dressing room who pretty quickly realise they’re not part of the plans. That can poison the dressing room. Having frustrated players kicking about the club who maybe don’t like the manager because of the situation is always a problem. Dylan Vente was the first to go with a loan move back to the Netherlands and PEC Zwolle and Riley Harbottle is also away to AFC Wimbledon having barely started a game for the club. So that's a start.
He’s done that with Kieron Bowie and Myko Kuharevich. Bowie excites me - I think he could be a star man, boom boom. But seriously his goal record on loan at Northampton and for Scotland U21 level is decent for a youngster, he’s had four years learning at a Premier League club and those who saw him at Raith Rovers as a kid rave about him.
But they’ve got to try because McCowan is a special talent. I said it last season that he should be on their radar. He would slot into that Hibs midfield brilliantly. He has been outstanding for Dundee and I know saying this won’t make me popular at my other old club but Hibs should do all they can to bring him in.
