Tensions between Australia's top tarmac rally promoter and Motorsport Australia have reached breaking point.
Targa Australia, which runs Targa Tasmania and other tarmac rally events, had been hopeful that a clear direction on the future of the discipline would follow the July 1 deadline.
“Given we need certainty well in advance of running these events, we have no other choice other than to cancel our 2023 events. “We will now focus on an exciting return of Targa Tasmania in its traditional place on the calendar from 8 to 13 April 2024." “Our events can only be run with the support of our loyal participants, and on the whole, they are understandably disenchanted with the current landscape, and we completely understand why,” added Perry.
