An 18-year-old girl has been apprehended for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at her high school on Valentine's Day. The incident has shocked the community, which previously rallied around her following a severe accident.
An 18-year-old girl named Trinity Shockley has been taken into custody and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, intimidation, and conspiracy to commit intimidation after allegedly plotting a mass shooting at her high school, Mooresville High School, on Valentine's Day. Local authorities received an anonymous tip through the FBI 's reporting system, alerting them to Shockley's alleged plans. The tip indicated that Shockley had access to an AR-15 rifle and had ordered a bulletproof vest.
Furthermore, the informant claimed that Shockley expressed an obsession with Nikolas Cruz, the perpetrator of the Parkland, Florida high school massacre. According to court documents, Shockley referred to the planned attack as 'Parkland part two' in online messages and stated she had been planning it for a year.Shockingly, this incident comes after the community rallied around Shockley in 2022 when she was struck by a drunk driver while waiting for her school bus. The accident resulted in multiple injuries, including a fractured femur, fractured arm, sprained ACL, two brain contusions, and a web compression fracture. Local media reported at the time that the school community raised over $12,000 to help cover her medical expenses. 'They've been really responsive,' her aunt Angela Altmeyer said following the tragedy. 'They've been wanting to send cards and whatever they can do.'In the aftermath of the tip-off, local law enforcement and FBI agents executed a search warrant at Shockley's residence, discovering items such as AR-15 magazines, ammunition, and a soft-armoured vest. However, Shockley later claimed to detectives that her remarks about the alleged attack were made in jest and denied having access to firearms. Yet, her online activity presented a disturbing picture, including images of firearm magazines, complimentary comments about Cruz, and chilling declarations about carrying out a school shooting. Following her arrest, Mooresville Schools released a statement confirming that Shockley 'will not return to the school.' The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, raising serious concerns about the dangers of online radicalization and the importance of mental health support
