The teenager disappeared while bodysurfing with two friends in Freshwater Beach last night.
His body was found less than 500 metres from the shore at 9.15am this morning with New South Wales Police and Surf Lifesaving New South Wales involved in the search.A teen who drowned off Sydney's Northern Beaches has been named as Ivan Korolev, 18.The teenager vanished while bodysurfing with two friends in Freshwater Beach last night.Surf Lifesavers urged people to only use patrolled beaches.
"Out of all the summer drownings we've had, not one has occurred in a patrolled location and that just shows the safety of those red and yellow flags during this period." The death is the 39th drowning since July 1 2022, and also sparked concerns from residents who live by the beach."When we get that decent size southerly swell you get a lot of rips and a lot of water moving out here so you've gotta know what you're doing and you've gotta be really really cautious," local Andy Howell said.to receive our daily newsletters and breaking news alerts, sent straight to your inbox.
