Worcester , Massachusetts - Police are currently investigating a serious train accident that occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in Worcester , leading to a teenage girl being hospitalized. According to authorities, the young girl was walking with friends towards the train tracks situated behind the Greendale Mall when she attempted to grab hold of a passing freight train and subsequently fell.
Witness Jason Desrosiers recounted the harrowing incident, stating that he immediately called 911 after observing the entire event unfold. He described seeing the girl being dragged approximately 10 to 15 feet by the train, resulting in a severe leg injury. \'She was talking, but was saying 'don't touch me.' I cleared some debris and put a sheet over her wound and a blanket over her,' Desrosiers shared. The Providence and Worcester Railroad Company's freight train remained stationary on the tracks in Holden following the accident. Desrosiers, who works adjacent to the section of tracks where the incident took place, noted that the area is frequently used as a shortcut. \'We've been here for years and this is the only person hit by the train here, there has been fires and stuff, but this is the first train accident here,' Desrosiers stated. Deeply concerned for the girl's well-being, he expressed, 'I just feel so bad for her, she's 14 and from what police are saying, it doesn't look like she'll keep her leg. It looks bad.
