An 18-year-old male was stabbed in the abdomen and robbed outside the Welcome Inn pub in Prestwich, Greater Manchester. Police believe the incident was targeted and there is no wider threat to the community.
An 18-year-old was stabbed in the abdomen and robbed outside a pub in Prestwich on Sunday night. Police were called to the incident near the Welcome Inn on Bury Old Road at around 8pm. Officers responded to reports of a robbery and found the victim with a stab wound. He was rushed to hospital from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries. An area outside the Welcome Inn pub was taped off.
Numerous police vehicles were called to the scene, with detectives also seen inspecting the ground with torches. Greater Manchester Police said officers believe the incident was a targeted attack with no wider threat to the community. No arrests have been made at this stage and enquiries are ongoing. Following the incident, the Welcome Inn pub was keen to stress they remained open on Sunday night and that the incident was 'unrelated' to the venue. 'Just letting customers know there has been an incident outside the pub which is unrelated to us,' they said. 'The front has been taped off by police but we are open. Please can you use the entrance to at the back. Thank you.' Detective Inspector Andy Wright from Bury CID, said: “We will not tolerate violence on our streets, and we will not stop until we have found those responsible. We understand the concerns people may have following this incident, but we want to reassure our communities that we believe this was a targeted attack and there is no wider threat to the public. “Additional officers are in the area and will be for the coming days, to provide reassurance for local residents. As officers continue with their enquiries, they are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or have any information, CCTV and vehicle dash cam footage, to contact Bury CID on 07855199574.'
