Two teenagers, Romarni Spencer and Pharrell McLennon, were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court for a frightening shooting incident at the Bridgeway Centre shopping mall. Dramatic footage captured the masked duo attempting to shoot their intended target in broad daylight, causing panic among shoppers.

Two teenagers, Romarni Spencer and Pharrell McLennon, were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court for their involvement in a terrifying shooting incident at the Bridgeway Centre shopping mall in Nottingham. The court heard how the pair, both 18 now, attempted to shoot their intended target in broad daylight on May 5, 2022, causing panic among shoppers. Dramatic footage captured the masked duo, then 17, aiming their revolvers at the man and firing twice as fleeing shoppers scrambled for safety.

Prosecuting, Richard Thatcher stated that the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, although drug supply is suspected to be a factor. Spencer and McLennon arrived at the scene and separated from a larger group, eventually confronting their target near the Co-op store. During the confrontation, Spencer appeared to put on gloves and reach for his waistband, while McLennon, still on a motorbike, pointed his revolver at the target, who was just a few feet away. Both teenagers then fired their weapons, missing their intended target. Witnesses reported hearing two gunshots and described seeing three women and a child fleeing the Co-op as the first shot was fired. Spencer jumped onto McLennon's motorbike, while the intended target mounted his own bike. A third shot was fired, and all parties quickly left the scene. The following day, Spencer and McLennon attempted to flee the country by booking flights to Alicante from East Midlands Airport. Police intercepted them at the airport at 4:00 am and arrested them at 5:18 am. They were found with a single suitcase containing minimal belongings and separate bags containing both defendants' passports. Spencer, of Marlborough Road, Beeston, and McLennon, of Maypole, Clifton, both pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. Spencer was sentenced to 10 and a half years, comprised of seven and a half years in custody plus a three-year extension. McLennon, who has a prior criminal history dating back to a robbery at the age of 12, received a 13-year sentence, consisting of 10 years in custody and a three-year extension. Both teenagers are ineligible for parole until they have served two-thirds of their custodial sentences
