The Tesla Model S and Model X had even offered support for wireless controllers when using Steam
Elon Musk had previously said he wanted to bring the entire Steam catalog to new Tesla vehicles. It doesn't appear existing Model S and Model Xs with Steam compatibility will be impacted. The carmaker hasn't explained why new models no longer support Steam. Tesla is no longer delivering new Model S and Model X vehicles with support for Steam games, a feature the carmaker launched in late 2022 to much fanfare.
“Tesla is updating the gaming computer in your Model X and your vehicle is no longer capable of playing Steam games. All other entertainment and app functionalities are unaffected,” the memo reads. As we’ve come to expect from Tesla, the change has been made without any explanation. Electrek suspects the brand may have dropped the feature after discovering not many people were using it. That’s hardly a surprise given that most people use a car as a car and not a gaming device.
