This Saturday marks the return of Strictly Come Dancing and viewers will once again see Tess Daly at the helm. Unveiled photos from her early days on children's show SMTV Live reveal a casual, jeans-and-rugby-top look compared to her glamorous red carpet style today.
This Saturday marks the first live show of the new series of Strictly Come Dancing , and once again hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will be introducing the celebrities and professional dancers who will be competing this year, while also trying to keep a tight rein on the judges as they grade each performance.
Tess, who is married to DJ and presenter Vernon Kay, began her career as a model after being spotted waiting for her sister outside a McDonald’s in Manchester, and her first professional photo shoot took place just a few weeks after she turned 18 in 1987. She modelled in London, then lived in Paris for five years, followed by another five years in New York.
"The show that turned things round for me was Strictly Come Dancing, but no one had any idea how torn up I was when I did that very first show. Yes, I made sure I looked the part and laughed and did everything I had to do, but I was completely broken up on the inside."
