The Commonwealth Games will take place in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2 in a scaled-down version of the event, with a 10-sport programme across four city venues.
Glasgow is set to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games after the city's selection was officially confirmed.
The compulsory sports for 2026 are athletics and swimming with the games to also include track cycling, gymnastics, netball, weightlifting, boxing, judo, bowls and 3x3 basketball.READ MORE: Glasgow British Airways flight declares emergency over city after onboard incident Among the sports missing out compared to the 2022 Games in Birmingham are triathlon, diving, hockey, T20 cricket, squash, badminton and rugby sevens.
However he said he thinks that the sport programme will start to vary and may increase in size depending on venues in future cities, so there is a chance that more sports may again be included.CGF chief executive Katie Sadleir said: "On behalf of the entire Commonwealth Sport Movement, we are delighted to officially confirm that the 2026 Commonwealth Games will take place in the host city of Glasgow.
