Instead of paying £5-11 for spider repellents, there is a quick and easy hack to banish them and leave your home smelling wonderful
As spider mating season begins this month, experts say there is an inexpensive solution for those not keen on the eight-legged creatures invading their homes.
While a bottle of spider repellents can set you back from anywhere between £5 and £11 at supermarkets, thankfully there is a far cheaper and easier solution to banish them from your house. It will only set you back 14p and will leave your home smelling wonderful.Mike Norton, Trade and Projects director at Magnet Trade said: "Like all species, spiders need water and moisture to survive.
He suggests rubbing lemon peel all over windowsills, skirting boards, and all of the other places spiders may perch. Mike says the citrus smell of the peel "repel them away". Speaking to The Mirror, he said: "Start by sealing any cracks or openings around your windows and doors with caulk, weather stripping, or sealant to reduce the chance of an initial invasion. With the cold weather approaching, getting this done now has the added benefit of retaining heat better in your home and saving energy through reduced central heating use and temperatures."
