Only a few episodes left until the end
The Big Bang Theory guest star Sean Astin is returning to the sitcom for two episodesThe Goonies actor made his first appearance as Dr Pemberton in season 12 episode The Confirmation Polarization earlier this year alongside Fermi-Lab colleague Dr. Campbell and broke the news to Amy and Sheldon that their asymmetry theory had been proven.
However despite the joyous news, Dr Pemberton wanted to remove Amy’s name off the nominations list for a Nobel Prize because only three scientists can share the award. And it looks like the story isn’t over yet, with Sean’s comeback hinting at how Sheldon’s story will end.Sean Astin is making a comeback as Dr Pemberton
‘So I got to do a little arc that I think is right on the spine, as a fan of the show from the first episode, you want to know if Sheldon’s gonna get a Nobel prize.‘It’s just incredible, again, as someone who’s just loved every episode of the show for 12 seasons, that I got to come in to the end and play a part of that storyline.’
He continued: ‘Well, just telling you that there’s two more, that’s a big tease, because where it was left was we set out this kind of carrot for [Sheldon] to betray Amy, and when he left us, with Kal Penn and I, when he left the restaurant where we were, you weren’t a hundred percent sure whether he was going to take us up on it.
