Charity shops depend on the public for both stock and sales to support their cause

Various charity shops across Nottingham – specifically in Sherwood – have been urgently appealing for donations in the past month. Items such as men’s and women’s clothing, accessories and household items are in demand for charity shops as donations are their main source of stock.

“I only share appeals for donations on social media when we urgently need new stock and we usually get a good response from the community. We’re quite lucky because we have a lot of regular people who donate to us.” However, the rise of online selling platforms means many people sell all of their unwanted items instead of donating which is a reason for a decline in donations. Necia added: “We are one of the only charities around here that never refuses donations.
