There's nothing better than sitting in a cosy pub, eating delicious food with a nice selection of drinks during the winter months. I stumbled across a pub serving just that on the outskirts of Merseyside which is certainly worth the journey. My partner and I were travelling through Ormskirk when we came across The Dog and Gun Inn on Long Lane, Aughton. We popped in for a pint after becoming intrigued by its traditional-looking exterior and immediately knew we'd made the right call.
As soon as we sat down with our pints at a table in the main room we knew we'd made a mistake. Our heads were turned every time a staff member walked out of the kitchen, holding on to a plate of delicious smelling food. We were that disappointed we returned a few weeks later to try the food for ourselves. Fortunately, it lived up to our expectations. I went for the fish and chips with mushy peas, which was absolutely huge.
