It recently celebrated its 20th birthday.
City centre nightclub Bamboo celebrated its 20th birthday last weekend with a huge party, and owner Brian Richards commented that it was a rare landmark for a club to last so long.
The city centre spot is a highlight of Glasgow’s nightlife, but when it originally opened in 2002, Bamboo’s vibe was more about relaxation and comfort as a lounge bar with only one small room allocated for dancing. Some of the world’s best-known DJs have performed sets in this little basement on West Regent Street, from Will Smith’s former music partner DJ Jazzy Jeff to Fedde le Grand, the legendary name behind Put Your Hands Up For Detroit.
