All the reaction as two men are charged
Greater Manchester Police responded to an ‘altercation’ between members of the public and police at Terminal Two on July 23. GMP has been investigating the actions of the individuals whilst the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been probing the actions of the officers involved.
Mohammed Amaaz, 20, is charged with two offences of causing actual bodily harm, one charge of assaulting an emergency worker and one charge of common assault. Muhammed Amaad, 25, is charged with causing actual bodily harm. The two defendants, both of Rochdale, will appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on January 16, 2025.
The charges also change the way we as journalists can report on the incident. Charges make a case ‘active’, which means reporting must follow strict guidelines including being limited to outlining the basic facts of the case and public statements. This is to ensure the defendants are granted a fair trial without prejudice.Weather etc Saturday: Yellow weather warning for wind. 11C.
