The plans have been approved for the attraction where 'outdoor events including walks, picnics, nature watching' would take place close to three lakes
Plans for a new lakeside café with decking extending over the water have been approved. The attraction, along with a shop, are to be built at land at Pilsworth Fishery, which operates three lakes off Moss Hall Road between Bury and Heywood.
The plans were approved by Bury Council last week. The lakes were dug out in the mid 19th century by the Pilsworth Clough Mills bleach works. The water supply came from Three Arrows, Brightley Brook and Harehills Brook and a colliery pit supply. A design and access report in support of the plans, said: “The angling use on site will be maintained and the recreational activities will attract people from the wider community.
The plans will also restore the Boathouse ruin at the site. Pilsworth Fishery’s three lakes are stocked with carp, chub, tench, roach and barbel. The match lake has 47 pegs several of which are accessible to the disabled
