Department for Work and Pensions benefits will end for 500,000 unless action is taken
Half a million people could lose their benefits in the next three months if they do not take action, as the Department for Work and Pensions continues a long-planned overhaul of the benefits system.
The six legacy benefits that are being replaced are: Housing Benefit, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance , Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance , Income Support, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit. How does moving to Universal Credit work? Once you have made a claim, you'll have to wait five weeks for your first Universal Credit payment to arrive. The DWP has reiterated that benefit claimants will not lose out financially when moving to Universal Credit.
