Grasmere in the Lake District and Llangollen in North Wales are among the top ten inland places to visit in the UK, according to a Which? survey
Four destinations within a two hour drive of Greater Manchester have been named among the best towns and villages to visit in the UK. More than 9,000 Which? members were asked to rate inland places they had visited, scoring them on factors such as food and drink, scenery, tourist attractions and more.
Model village Port Sunlight was the highest-ranked northern destination, coming in joint third with Corfe Castle in Devon, with a score of 80 per cent. Located just outside of Liverpool and around an hour's drive from Greater Manchester, Port Sunlight was built by Sunlight Soap mogul William Hesketh Lever to house his workers.The pretty village features an impressive mix of beautiful buildings, while visitors gave it a five star rating for how peaceful it is.
Llangollen in North Wales also made it into the top ten. The highest-rated destination in Wales to make the list, Which? praised its “impressive calendar of arts events”, as well as the narrowboat trips people can take over Pontcysyllte, the highest canal aqueduct in the world.
