“There’s a lot of trash and debris that emerges out of the snow as it’s melting,” Anchorage’s Park and Recreation Director Mike Braniff said. “I can tell you that a camp that size, at the end of a complete winter — there’s a lot of debris.” However, Braniff said that there are still six vehicles on the property. He estimated that between six to 12 people are still using the parking lot as a campsite.
Braniff said he understands that weather conditions could be causing difficulties for campers trying to leave the parking lot. That’s in addition to complications with vehicles that might not even be operable.
