Celtic are in negotiations to sign Idah on a permanent deal from Norwich and Scales is desperate to see the striker back in the Hoops.
That was the dressing room chemistry that helped Celtic produce a title surge just as Brendan Rodgers’ side were most in need of a positive reaction to a mid-season wobble. Idah’s on-field impact was clear for all to see after arriving on a deadline day loan from Norwich and banging in nine goals including a last gasp Scottish Cup Final winner to clinch the double.
“If you hit his feet he can hold up the big Scottish defenders that he is playing against. It is a great out if centre-backs or midfielders can play it to him. He has creative players playing off him as well. It’s not just a goalkeeper they have lost but one of the main leaders of the dressing room too. Scales is well aware of the void the 75-time capped England shotstopper leaves behind. But the 25-year-old insists it’s up to himself and other members of Rodgers' side to step up.
“I got my rounds in! I saw a few mates and kept it low key. I wasn’t out and about much. Where I’m from, the countryside, you don’t see as many people as you would in Dublin.” “After that it’s about replicating the number of games I played but hopefully playing better, just improving on all aspects and being more successful with the trophies. There’s one we didn’t win last season that we would love to win this time along with the league and the cup.”
