Witnessing a breathtaking sunset is an experience many cherish, and with Valentine's Day approaching, romantic getaways to picturesque locations are on the rise. February's sunset timings, falling between 5 pm and 6 pm, offer a practical window to catch nature's vibrant display. A recent study has unveiled the UK's top sunset spots, and two locations conveniently accessible from Greater Manchester have secured spots in the coveted top ten.
Experts at Nationwide Vehicle Contracts meticulously analyzed locations with the lowest average rainfall, aiming to identify spots with the highest probability of clear skies for unobstructed sunset views. Macclesfield Forest in the Peak District emerged as a top contender, ranking sixth with an approximate 14 percent chance of rain annually and around 51 rainy days. Some of the forest's most enchanting sunset viewpoints include Shutlingsloe, a hill nestled in the south, and the nearby Tegg's Nose Country Park. Beyond its captivating sunsets, the forest offers a tranquil setting for a romantic stroll, boasting miles of captivating walking trails where visitors might encounter deer gracefully roaming through the trees.Another easily accessible location from Manchester that made the top ten is Mam Tor in the Peak District. This iconic hill boasts a 22 percent average chance of rain and approximately 80 rainy days a year. Mam Tor is already renowned for its spectacular sunrises, with countless videos on TikTok showcasing its breathtaking displays of dawn and dusk. The pinnacle of the list belongs to Sandbanks in Dorset, while Spurn Point in East Yorkshire secured the second position. Completing the top three is Ness Point in Suffolk.
