Deidre Sanders, the agony aunt on the ITV daytime show This Morning has announced her breast cancer has returned saying she was "shocked and wasn't expecting it."
On Tuesday's episode, the agony aunt sat down with Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley to reveal her breast cancer has now returned, revealing she has an annual mammogram due to her previous diagnosis. When asked by Ben if she had any symptoms when she first went for her mammogram, the agony aunt said she hadn't, and wasn't feeling rundown or tired. "If I did a self check, I couldn't feel anything because it was too small to feel," she said, confirming her diagnosis was purely down to the mammogram.
The agony aunt then went on to urge women over 70 to request their mammogram. "My big point about this is that on the NHS system, I'm not criticising it, the call for mammograms stop when you are 70," she said, explaining she was in a cohort of women who had been missed.
