Thomas Campbell found 'naked apart from a pair of socks' after being 'tortured to death', murder trial told
A dad was discovered lying in his hallway 'naked apart from a pair of socks' after being 'tortured to death', a murder trial heard. Thomas Campbell's ankles were bound together with duct tape, and he'd suffered burns to his buttocks and legs likely to have been caused by a hot liquid, a jury at Bolton Crown Court was told.
Ms Campbell is alleged to have provided information about her former husband's movements to his alleged killers. She and Mr Belfield were said to have been 'apparent strangers' before he messaged her on Instagram, a week before Mr Campbell was found dead. Prosecutors allege that Mr Belfield, Mr Steven and an unknown third man were driven to his home by Karl Murphy, 50, a fourth defendant on trial. CCTV footage played to the jury captured audio of Mr Campbell 'screaming' as he was 'rushed' when he unlocked his front door.
Dr Lumb said that Mr Campbell's wrists had duct tape on them. "I could see his ankles were bound tightly together by similar tape," he added. "He has probably been lying on his front and liquid has fallen onto him, rather than him sitting in hot liquid. This is very likely caused by hot liquid being poured on that area."
