Groups have the option to lease facility through a Community Asset Transfer light, an annual lease which when granted enables the group to test the viability of their plan and see if there is a capacity and demand for the venue. Calderwood Baptist Church, who have expressed interest in Calderwood Hall, offer a range of community benefits through relief of poverty and other social challenges.
In the supporting statement, the church wrote: ‘Our records show that over the past year, we have served 705 people through different activities that have been directly run by the church. Of this around 360 people are served on a weekly basis through activities of the church. The organisation aims to develop life skills, build character and encourage a sense of adventure and belonging.In the supporting statement, the organisation wrote: ‘The 6th EK Scout Group taking over the community hall presents a solution that benefits both the Scouts and the wider community. It ensures a dedicated space for the Scouts to thrive and revitalises a valuable community asset.’
In the supporting statement, East Kilbride Gymnastics Club wrote: ‘We have a waiting list of approximately 300 children waiting to join the club. If we are successful in this application, we will be able to extend our provision of gymnastics by running additional classes for these children. We intend to run classes for our younger children, including potentially pre-school classes.
