They were saved just moments from death as a 10-meter tide surged towards them
Three people nearly drowned off the Lancashire coast after a tidal app mistook their location for a place in the United States.
They deployed a 'lightning fast jet ski' to the incident on Sunday and were joined by members of the Coastguard and RNLI. The group were treated for hypothermia and shock by BSAR medics where they spent 'considerable time warming up and drying out', before being handed over to the the Cumbria Ambulance Service.
"Three people were cut off waist deep in Silverdale today in a huge fast moving 10m tide, having trusted an internet tidal app for Silverdale. Unfortunately this app gave the location for Silverdale Portland USA but did not state that, only when we questioned the latitude and Longitude did the location become clear, but by then it was too late they were waste deep in a fast moving tide.
