The Met Office is predicting the worst of the weather on Saturday with heavy shows and 'a chance of thunder'
If you're hoping to spend the August Bank Holiday weekend basking outdoors in the glorious, hot weather then you may want to look away now.
The Met Office forecast for Lancashire shows thunderstorms and heavy rain are on the way with temperatures only reaching highs of 19C. After a run of good weather in recent days, low pressure is set to dominate conditions the end of the month with the worst of the weather hitting the county on Saturday .
The weather agency predicts heavy rain will sweep in from 10am with Preston seeing the worst of the thundery conditions. The forecast shows thunder showers at 10am, 12pm, 3pm and 6pm.Those travelling to Blackpool for the Bank Holiday weekend will enjoy a sunnier start to Saturday before thunder showers arrive at 1pm and then again at 4pm, 6pm and 9pm. Eastern parts of the county including Burnley and Accrington will enjoy the best of the conditions with few outbreaks of thunder and heavy rain.
Sunday will largely be a much cloudier and drier day with highs of 17C. The rain will also stay away from many areas on Bank Holiday Monday before returning again on Tuesday. No weather warnings have yet been issued by the Met Office. Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates said: "Areas further north and west will see more frequent showers, some of which will be heavy, and will at times extend south into central areas of England and Wales on Saturday and Sunday.
