Five different pieces of debris have been found in the search for the Titan submersive.
Prospects for recovering bodies
Rear Admiral John Mauger told a press conference in Boston on Thursday: “This morning, an ROV, or remote operated vehicle from the vessel Horizon Arctic discovered the tail cone of the Titan submersible approximately 1,600ft from the bow of the Titanic on the sea floor. "Shortly after, we found a second smaller debris field within that debris field. We found the other end of the press hull that…basically comprised of the totality of that pressure chamber. We will do our best to fully map out what’s down there."Rear Admiral John Mauger said their investigation has currently found 'no connection' between noises earlier reported and the location of the found debris.
A statement said: "We now believe that our CEO Stockton Rush, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeolet, have sadly been lost. "We appreciate their commitment to finding these five explorers, and their days and nights of tireless work in support of our crew and their families.
Speaking to Sky News, Mr Mearns said the president of the club, who is "directly connected" to the ships on the site, said to the group: "It was a landing frame and a rear cover from the submersible."A Royal Air Force plane has arrived at St John’s International Airport after it received a request for assistance in the hunt for the missing Titan submersible.
