A young Tottenham Hotspur mascot made a cheeky plea to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk during the teams' Carabao Cup semi-final first leg encounter.
Viewers were in hysterics in the build-up to Tottenham ’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg with Liverpool as a young mascot made the cheekiest of attempts to tap up Virgil van Dijk in the tunnel. Spurs’ defensive frailties have been on full display this season, with Ange Postecoglou’s side shipping 30 goals in the Premier League and languishing down in 12th place in the table at the halfway stage.

As the Netherlands centre-back headed in their direction to dish out a few customary high fives, one of the more lairy members of the group delivered a priceless line which perfectly summed up Tottenham’s defensive woes. ‘Van Dijk, come to Tottenham! We haven’t got any good defenders at the moment.’ the youngster could be heard yelling, which instantly had the Sky Sports studio cackling. ‘The mascot is being very honest to the Liverpool players!’ Sky Sports host Chapman said in response. ‘They are the best value mascots in the league at Tottenham, they always entertain, every single week, when they’re at home. ‘I don’t know if Ange Postecoglou heard the mascots or not but let’s here from him now…
