The brilliant traditional tearoom tucked away in Lancashire marina that makes the perfect bolthole
Scarisbrick Marina on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal is home to hoards of colourful boats and barges, but it's a little brown building with a grey roof firmly on land, that really floats visitors' proverbial boats. The Tearoom is housed inside the marina's single-storey hut-style building.
Dishes are cooked with locally-sourced ingredients as much as possible with the smokey BBQ burger made from Johnson's of Tarleton beef. If sharing is your thing, then the picnic board for two with finger sandwiches, pastries and scones could be the menu highlight or even the hot board, which includes homemade soup, fish goujons, fries and finished off with scones and cakes.
And while it is quieter on weekdays, it is still a hotspot for regulars, walkers and young families, with customers consistently coming through the doors to be greeted with a warm welcome and plate of hearty food. "The food was excellent, especially for the kids. Topped it off with some lovely ice creams whilst watching the boats and ducks on the marina. Will certainly be back."
