Breaking: Tragedy as young man dies after getting into difficulty in Chorley park lake
Lancashire Constabulary and paramedics were called to Yarrow Valley Country Park in Chorley shortly after 2pm yesterday to reports that a man had entered the water and got into difficulties. Despite attempts to save the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the body of the 26-year-man was recovered from the water following a search of the lake. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and his next of kin have been informed.A file is being prepared for the coroner and police have launched an appeal for witnesses or anyone in the area with information.
A Chorley Police spokesperson said: "A man has sadly died after an incident at the lake in Yarrow Valley Country Park, Chorley. We were called to the park around 2.10pm yesterday after a report a man had entered the water and got into difficulties. "Emergency services attended the scene and following a search of the lake, the body of a 26-year-man was recovered from the water. His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his family.
"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a file is being prepared for the coroner. We are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area and might have information."
