The operator has been under government control via the arm’s-length business the Operator of Last Resort since 2020 but The deal that will be put to RMT members will last for 16 weeks initially and also includes an agreement for conductors to use the passenger assistance app to improve the reliability for disabled and older travellers who need help.A source said if the deals are accepted by members they will “pave the way for the modernisation of workplace practices” and should be a “gamechanger for services”.
