The closure is affecting six stops across two counties and delays of up to an hour-and-a-half are reported
and Lincoln is currently shut while emergency services deal with an "incident". The closure, which affects the Newark Castle, Collingham, Swinderby, Hykeham and Lincoln stops, was announced by East Midlands Railway at 7.09pm this evening via a post on X.
The post on the social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, said: "The line is currently closed between Lincoln and Newark whilst emergency services are dealing with an incident. More information to follow." The details on what the emergency is have not been revealed and how long the closure will be in place has also not yet been stated. Trains have been disrupted on two routes, however, on the Leicester-Lincoln-Grimsby route and the Crewe-Nottingham-Newark Castle route.The Newark North Gate station is also not able to be served. East Midlands Railway said it was looking to "resource emergency rail replacement" to operate between Newark and Lincoln.
