Tucked away in 17 acres of beautiful parkland on the English-Welsh border is Henlle Hall Woodland Lodges; a place of pure tranquillity and adventure.

I was very kindly invited to go and stay in one of Henlle Hall’s concierge lodges, a tree house called Tree Tops that sleeps up to six people. I took my family with me and let's just say we are already planning our next visit. The Oswestry-based holiday park has been the recipient of many awards.

On the first floor was the master bedroom, a luxurious and stylish room with a standing bathtub by the window and an en-suite shower and bathroom. You can look out of the huge sliding doors into the wilderness from the comfort of your own bed - or from a relaxing bubble bath. The master bedroom has a huge bed and a free-standing bathtub.

As the snow fell, we got our coats and gloves on and made our way down to the canal, which is just a 10 minute walk away and leads you to another lovely resort called Lion Quays. Here, Henlle Hall guests get discounted spa admission for £12. That gives you access to the salt rock relaxation rooms with swinging beds - which was my favourite part - a thermal pool, Finnish sauna, steam room and pool.

After a truly luxurious evening of being wined and dined, we dedicated the next day to some good old hiking. When you’re not relaxing at base, you can immerse yourself in the surrounding nature with strolls through rural Shropshire, or step back in time to one of the many nearby historical sites such as Chirk Castle, Erddig Hall or the Old Oswestry Hill Fort.heritage sites. It’s just under five miles to get to with some steep walking paths along the way, but beautiful views.
