The Foreign Office has warned that a 'volatile security situation' is currently taking place, urging people not to travel there.
A new update from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has warned UK holidaymakers against travelling to Haiti due to some potentially dangerous circumstances there.
Many people have been killed, with gunmen raiding the country's two largest jails and freeing thousands of prisoners. Over 15,000 people are also currently homeless after fleeing neighbourhoods raided by the gangs. The FDCO has warned that consular assistance from the embassy is 'severely limited' and 'cannot be delivered in person' in Haiti.
"British nationals may get consular services assistance at our diplomatic mission in the Dominican Republic. If you choose to travel to or stay in Haiti against FCDO advice, try to avoid all crowds and public events, and take appropriate security precautions."
