Friends, family, and political figures gathered to remember the life of Ron Round, a former leader of Knowsley Council, at his funeral in Prescot. Round, who served the authority for 12 years, dedicated his life to serving the community in Huyton.
Friends, family and political leaders turned out to pay their respects at the funeral of a long-serving former leader of Knowsley Council. Dozens of mourners gathered at Prescot Parish Church to remember the life of Ron Round, who died aged 89 on December 1. Mr Round, who led the authority for 12 years between 2003 and 2015, spent his entire life in the borough. The former Swanside ward member served his community in Huyton for almost 30 years before taking the hotseat two decades ago.
A true gentleman and the most inspirational figure to the family, friends and local community. “Love, strength and support were qualities that just came naturally to him and we were so lucky to have him in our lives. We will miss and always love him dearly”. As a mark of respect for Mr Round, Knowsley Council flew the Union flags at half mast until his funeral earlier today.
