Former Knowsley Council leader Ron Round died recently at the age of 89, having led the borough between 2003 and 2015
Knowsley residents are preparing to say goodbye to a much-loved family man and 'inspirational' community leader as his family released details of his forthcoming funeral. Former leader of Knowsley Council , Ron Round spent his entire life living and working in the borough, but sadly died two weeks ago. The former Swanside ward member served his community in Huyton for almost 30 years before taking the hot seat two decades ago.
The service will be followed by a burial at St Bartholomew’s Church Road, Huyton, L36 9TL. Outside of his political life, Mr Round was a devoted family man who 'would do anything for anyone'. His career was spent in construction, where he was an active trade union member and after retiring as a councillor, his contribution to public life was recognised in December 2016 when he was made an Honorary Alderman of Knowsley.
