A driver transporting a car on a flat-bed truck was stopped by Greater Manchester Police on the M62. The driver, traveling from Birmingham to Manchester, claimed they were looking for a 'cheap bargain' to sell. However, the vehicle was seized due to a lack of insurance, tax, MOT, a tachograph, and an insecure load.
A driver who told police they had been looking for a 'cheap bargain' ended up losing their truck on the M62 . Officers stopped a flat-bed Iveco truck which was carrying a car along the M62 on Monday night .
Greater Manchester Police officers felt the vehicle needed to be stopped for checks. After being pulled over on the road, the driver told officers they were travelling from Birmingham to Manchester. The driver said they had picked up a 'cheap bargain' which they were looking to sell on. But the journey ended up being more costly for the bargain-lover than they imagined.
Officers discovered the truck did not have any insurance, tax or MOT. The vehicle also failed to have a tachograph, which records driving time for workers on the road, while police found the car being carried to be an insecure load. The truck was seized by police from the motorway. A spokesperson for GMP Traffic wrote on X: "This recovery truck came in for checks tonight on the M62 after travelling from Birmingham to Manchester to recover a 'cheap bargain' to sell. The owner had no insurance, no tax, no MOT, No Tachograph and an insecure load. vehicle seized."
