Two men have been arrested after bomb disposal experts were called out to Largs marina following reports of a suspicious item on a boat.

Police were called to the town's Irvine Road at around 3.30pm on Sunday with Explosive Ordnance Disposal and HM Coastguard officers also sent to the scene. The marina was evacuated 'as a precaution' and the road was sealed off by police while investigations into the item were carried out.It was later concluded that the item was 'not viable' and there were no reports of anyone injured.

Inspector Barry Walker said: “At around 3.30pm on Sunday, September 11, we were called to Largs Yacht Haven, Irvine Road, Largs, to a report of an item found on a boat.
