The investment will include brand new buildings featuring new classrooms and play areas
Two Nottingham schools will be expanded at a cost of £4.6 million amid an "urgent and increasing" need for places. The Glade Hill Primary School in Bestwood and The Fernwood School in Wollaton will both be getting brand new buildings constructed on their sites to accommodate dozens of pupils.
In a new report being presented to top councillors at a meeting on October 22, the city council says: "Nottingham is experiencing considerable growth in the number of young people identified as having SEND and there is an urgent, significant and increasing need for additional capacity to meet this demand. The council is committed to supporting our schools and settings within the city to offer high quality, inclusive education.
The building will be designed to accommodate 16 children who have autistic spectrum condition , with eight pupils already at the school to benefit. The Fernwood School in Wollaton will then have £2.75 million spent on it for the building of a two-storey unit to accommodate 24 pupils.
