Jamil Hanif and Richard Allen were prosecuted by the Environment Agency for operating an unregulated waste facility and illegally depositing controlled waste on a site in Preston. The case involved the accumulation of household, commercial, and construction waste, posing risks to the environment and legitimate businesses.

Two men have been prosecuted over illegal waste activities in Preston which saw huge piles of household and commercial rubbish dumped on land near homes.

Despite the company's official dormant status, Hanif used the site for waste storage and sorting activities related to house clearances linked to his wife’s property rental business. Allen, acting under Hanif’s instructions, was responsible for tipping waste at the site. Both defendants appeared before Blackburn Magistrates Court on January 29 and received 12-month community orders, requiring them to complete 120 hours of unpaid work. Allen was ordered to pay a £300 contribution to prosecution costs and a £114 government surcharge and Hanif was ordered to pay a £1,000 contribution to prosecution costs and a £114 government surcharge.
