Alvaro Morata and Dani Carvajal left out of ESP starting XI with cold blamed on hotel air con FIFAWorldCup
There’s been plenty of talk surrounding air con when looking at how countries are tackling the Qatari heat at the 2022 World Cup.due to the machinery at their hotel.Spain will be playing in an airconned stadium on Wednesday – but it’s air con that’s led two of their stars to be unable to start their opening tieAs Luis Enrique named his side on Wednesday afternoon, fans were surprised to see Morata and Carvajal were both on the bench.
And talkSPORT’s commentator for the match Nigel Adderley has revealed why they’re not in the starting XI. He said: “They have missed a couple of players, Morata and Carvajal suffering with colds due to the air conditioning around their hotel.Instead, Chelsea’s César Azpilicueta has come in at right-back, whilst Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio starts up top as a false nine.
The 2010 World Champions are also missing Jose Gaya at the tournament, after the Valencia left-back suffered a sprained ankle in training and was replaced by Barca youngster Alejandro Balde.
