The Met Office has issued two yellow weather warnings for wind on Wednesday, following the devastation caused by Storm Darragh . Gales of more than 60mph are predicted on Wednesday, covering vast swathes of northern England and parts of southern Scotland, from 3am-2pm. A separate warning is in place across the Welsh coast, coastal Northern Ireland, and southern Scotland, from 3pm on Tuesday until 8pm on Wednesday.
Strengthening southerly winds will bring gusts of 40mph to 50mph inland and possibly 50mph to 60mph in more exposed places. Delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely with some bus and train services affected and large waves in coastal spots. These warnings come as many communities recover from the devastating effects of Storm Darragh earlier this month.
