The Met Office predicts 'severe snow' for parts of the UK next week, with temperatures dropping sharply. While Lancashire currently experiences fog, the country is expected to see milder weather in the coming days, with rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland towards the end of the week. Snow is more likely from Tuesday onwards, with Scotland potentially facing heavy snowfall by the early hours of New Year's Day.

The Met Office's latest weather maps indicate that Scotland, particularly the north, is in for a significant bout of snow and hail by the early hours of Tuesday morning (December 31).
